The Red Rock Chamber Orchestra is an artistically adventurous yet accessible alternative to Oklahoma's currently established professional instrumental ensembles. Challenging repertoire, innovative concert style, and a fresh take on audience outreach are the trademarks of this volunteer-based dynamic new performance group. RRCO -- Anything but ordinary!
The brainchild of Mr. Justin Seal (M.M. conducting, OCU '06) and Mrs. Marlo Williams (B.M. double bass performance, Duquesne '04), the Red Rock Chamber Orchestra is an ambitious project that has something for everyone. Below is a description of some of the goals of this group comprised of young, professionally-minded musicians. The RRCO is dedicated to having an engaging relationship with our audiences and offering them top-notch concert experiences.
Goals for Ensemble Members
To provide high-level performance experience for professionally-oriented young musicians.
To serve as a source of continued artistic growth, challenge, and motivation.
To help young professionals build resumes, acting as a stepping-stone into the wider musical realm.
Musical and Artistic Goals
To spotlight masterworks written for smaller and/or unconventional instrumental ensembles.
To explore stylistic and artistic variety by showcasing works by composers of diverse nationalities, philosophies, and time periods.
To collaborate with artists of different styles and media to broaden our own artistic appeal as well as give exposure to fellow creative people.
Goals for Listeners
To attract new audiences to the orchestral experience by providing a relaxed, accessible concert environment.
To provide entertaining program notes coinciding with our unique concert programming.
To give periodic interactive, engaging presentations, separate from concerts, familiarizing people with fun musical facts and ideas to enhance their interest in and appreciation of fine art. (i.e. no long boring speeches at concerts!).
Also, we're always open to new professional performers. Whether you're a music major still working on your degree, or a young professional looking for a pioneering performance opportunity, be sure to contact us-- the Red Rock Chamber Orchestra welcomes you!
